Renewed Strength

Matt 5:3 says. "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." In the Greek, the original language of the NT, the word for "poor" can be translated "without" and the word for "spirit" is can be translated "breath". So, the passage could also read like this, "Blessed are those without breath for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

This rendering has dual application. First, an eternal one: when we expire from this earth, we can have the assurance that there has been a reservation in heaven made for us. Second an earthly one: we can have the confidence that when the marathon of life has "winded" us-- causing us to be "short of breath"-- that all the power of the kingdom is available to renew our strength.

So, if life has got you "winded", count yourself blessed because God has a secret stash of supernatural provision just for you! Live right, live well…

God Answers Prayers

Ps 40:12-13 says, "For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; they are more numerous than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed me. 3 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; make haste, O Lord, to help me."

If you have not experienced the temporary blinding of the soul as a consequence of your life being overcome by the iniquity therein, you are one of the fortunate few. David, not being able to spiritually see what to do, groped in the dark to find his way. Lost, he resorted to his most familiar harbor of strength- his well intended heart, only to discover that too would fail him. Doubly lost, he cries out to God to deliver him from himself and thankfully, history shows God answered his prayer.

When you've been afflicted with temporary blindness and developed heart failure, isn't it good to know that God's power is available to both illumine your way and strengthen your heart. Cry out to him and watch him come to your rescue! Live right, live well...
