Choosing Wisdom

by Brett Fuller on November 08, 2021

Ecclesiastes 4:13 says, "A poor yet wise lad is better than an old and foolish king who no longer knows how to receive instruction."

Poverty is never preferable, yet if a choice had to be made between wealth and wisdom, the best choice is wisdom. Wealth without wisdom will be lost quickly. Yet because wisdom is more rare than riches, it is a wealth magnet.

A king who is aged is presumably financially independent. His experience, maturity and skill were to have made him wiser and thus better able to receive truth however it is given. When experience, maturity and skill do not prepare a man to become more experienced, mature and skilled- wealth can never be an adequate substitute. Never grow to the place where you don't think you need to grow. Live right, live well...
