Understanding God's Will

by Brett Fuller on October 09, 2017

A distinguishing characteristic of being God's is that He reveals His will to His own. Christianity has been too often viewed as a religion which has its greatest benefit after death. Heaven's goodness being undiminished, nothing could be further from the truth.

God wants us to influence the direction in which the people of the earth are going. We can best do that if we understand how God intended for it be done. Eph 5:17 gives us a clue when it says, "So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is."

First, Paul says foolishness is a barrier to understanding. Foolish thinking relies on earthly wisdom to make decisions (James 3:14-15). Foolish actions are evidenced when people who reject godly warnings press forward to their own peril (Prov. 5). We need not be foolish.

Second, we need to press in to God to understand. Understanding is there to be gained, but not for the lazy. May God make His good will known to you so you can help everyone live right and live well...
