Proverbs 2:7a says, "He (God) stores up sound wisdom for the upright..." Now considering that Proverbs 3:14 says wisdom is more valuable than riches, this has to be the greatest deal ever.
Most of us have bank accounts into which we make regular deposits and from which we make regular withdrawals. Though the line of people who wish to help us spend the money may be long, significantly shorter is the one for deposits to be made.
Like a bank account, God says that if we are upright in our ways (meaning honest, straight and frequent high road travelers), He will start a savings account into which He will make regular deposits of wisdom. However, the metaphor weakens when withdrawals are executed— for when wisdom is “drawn down” the value of the account does not diminish. Now that ought to be enough incentive to live right and live well…
