The Recipe for Good Leadership

In Psalms 18:35 David says, "(God) You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand upholds me; and Your gentleness makes me great."

Leadership brings people from where they are, to where they need to be. David, a lowly shepherd boy, realized he arrived at a place of greatness because God led him.

Often, the Lord's influence is expressed in terms which convey an omnipotent force that overcomes all obstacles. Yet, when David relationally peers beyond God's invincibility, what's revealed is God's gentleness- without which he would not be "great".

Greatness, in some measure, is attainable for every person. Those we lead follow us because they believe we can guide them to places they can't get to on their own. Let us not disappoint them.            

Gentleness added to the recipe of good leadership will create greatness in all who follow, with the ancillary reciprocal benefit being, their greatness becoming worthy of our following. Lead right, lead well...
