The Quietest Prayers

by Brett Fuller on November 29, 2021

Hannah was a woman in distress. 1 Samuel 1 says she was married to a man who had another wife and that the other wife had many children, yet Hannah was barren. Adding pain to misery, the rival would mock her childlessness as often as possible. The verbal jabs became so hurtful that at one family gathering, Hannah left the dinner celebration in tears and went to church. There, she prayed like she had never prayed before and it sounded something like this, "Lord, if you remember your maidservant by giving me a son, I'll give him back to You for all his days."

Well, even though according to scripture her prayer wasn't audible, God heard and granted her request. The greatest Judge since Joshua was born, and the world would never be the same.

If you find yourself unable to produce while all about you are reaping bumper crops, maybe God is bringing you to the same point at which He brought Hannah- the place of surrendering to Him that which He grants. When the heart abides in this location, God hears even the quietest prayer. Live right, live well...
