James 5:20 says, "Let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins."
Nobody wants to be exposed, but sin betrays our mask of perfection. When people recognize their sin, they tend- like Adam & Eve- to quickly cover themselves with their version of "fig leaves", so none will see. The problem is that like the "first family", their solution is temporary at best for any man devised "covering" quickly withers.
The only way sin can be properly covered is by first "exposing" it. Sounds risky, but it's right. When we confess our sin to God and allow trusted others to assist in our healing, the pathway to forgiveness and restoration is streamlined.
So, don't let the shame of your wrongdoing pull you away from the right solution. Confess your sin to God, let others help walk you through restoration and watch how your, "re-covery" accelerates. Live right, live well...
