James Bond is the icon of the "cool" spy genre movie. Among many things, for which he is famous is the way he likes his martinis, "shaken, not stirred".
When Peter writes to early Christians in his second letter, he says in 3:1, "This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder..."
When Amos writes to a disobedient Israel, he says in 9:9 "For behold, I am commanding, and I will shake the house of Israel among all nations..."
Reminders are intended to wonderfully "stir" our thoughts toward proper action. However, when reminders don't work, God will allow circumstances to "shake" our world to reconfirm to us that compliance is not optional.
Martinis aside, since God gives us two ways to receive mission critical prompts, unlike Bond, ask to receive them in a way that is,"stirred, not shaken." Live right, live well...
