Searching, Finding & Following

by Brett Fuller on August 03, 2020

In Luke 2:41-51 Mary and Joseph begin caravanning it with friends back home to Galilee from Jerusalem after the Passover. The fact that Jesus was not by their side was not a concern. He was a bright 12 year old who knew the tradition well. They probably thought He had hitched a ride with aunt Elizabeth, uncle Zachariah and cousin John. Although, after a day had passed without Jesus checking in, Mary and Joseph began to worry.

Frantically searching, they go all the way back to Jerusalem finding Him in the temple. In the atmosphere of worship, He's discussing the scriptures with the wisest sages of his day.

Now, in this story, Mary & Joseph assumed Jesus was following their scheduled program. Don't we all... In fact, they assumed He was following them. As a result, they lost Him.

Question: In your religious tradition, have you ever lost God? If the answer is yes, you'd do well to return to the purity of studying the Scriptures and the beauty worshipping in His house. By the way, when you find Him, don't be surprised to find that He's been waiting for you. Live right, live well...
