Path, Patience & Purpose

by Brett Fuller on January 13, 2020

Most of us have a sense that we have been put on the planet for a specific purpose, but the patience required for us to realize that end feels sometimes beyond our reach.

Exodus records the chronology of the Israelites' deliverance from Egypt. Upon their departure, they were to enter into the Promised Land. However, instead of God directing them through the shortest route, Exodus 13:17 says, "God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, even though it was near; for God said, "The people might change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt."

Sometimes the shortest distance between two points is not a straight line. It can be the path which gives you the best chance of reaching your destination. Taking the conventional “shortest” route, would not have enabled the Israelites to enter the land of promise.

If you find that the path to your purpose takes more turns than you wish, don't be discouraged. God's managing your personality, upbringing, capacity & calling so as to maximize your opportunity for success. Stay on the road. Live right, live well...
