Observe and Be Wise

by Brett Fuller on September 16, 2019

Self motivated people are priceless. Trying to manage folks who will only be moved by a superior’s provoking is not preferable.

Solomon fancied himself as a renaissance man, dabbling in a number of different fields. At best, he was a junior biologist, but he did make note of an amazing phenomenon. In Proverbs 6:6-8 he says, “Go to the ant, O sluggard, observe her ways and be wise,7Which, having no chief, officer or ruler, 8 Prepares her food in the summer and gathers her provision in the harvest.”

His frustration with the unmotivated must have been high. As king, everyone was at his bidding. Yet, if his kingdom were to run optimally, he had to have inspired personnel.

Observing the ant prompted him to pen a lesson. An entire colony of insects functioning tirelessly without commands from on high. Each one fulfilling their individual purpose while serving the colony. Smart, content and hard working.

May you shame the ant to become the next wise man’s object lesson. Live right, live well…
