Living A Lifestyle That Reflects The Promises of God

by Brett Fuller on August 12, 2019

Scripture has some wonderful words of encouragement that convey unwavering truths. 1 John 5:13 says that one of the reasons he wrote to fellow believers was so they, “…may know that (they) have eternal life.” This passage is intended to build foundational.

In addition to this promise, Scripture also has assurances related to disobedience that are intended to remind us of God’s holiness. Ephesians 5: 5 says, “For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” Now, Paul uses the terms “immoral”, “impure” and “covetous” as qualifiers to the nouns “man” and “person”, thus defining them. Meaning, God is not implying that the one who stumbles into a sinful act is in danger of forfeiting his eternal placement, but one who lives this sinful lifestyle as evidence of his faulty commitment.

These passages are loving reminders to the church that God inspires us as well as warns us to live right and live well…
