Live by Faith

by Brett Fuller on November 06, 2017

Throughout history, there have been two ways to relate to God: by faith and by law. In commenting on Abraham’s walk with God James said, “’Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness…’ (James 2:23)

As wonderful as Abraham was, he was unusual. Most of humanity had no clue how to walk with God. Knowing this, God established the law to boundary man with rules that He might preserve a people through whom He could safely bring His Son. Gal 3:23-24 says it like this, “23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law… 24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.”

Being bound to live “legally” never let’s one matriculate to Jesus. The Law can’t increase the level of righteous living. It only reminds of our obligation, deters from sin and condemns disobedience. Let’s graduate from law’s tutelage to faith in Christ’s redemptive, justifying grace which empowers us to live right and live well…
