Honor Your Parents

by Brett Fuller on August 14, 2017

Our parents brought us into this world. No matter the upbringing, our mother and father are the “life springboard” which cast us into the loving arms of Father God. God thought the parent-child relationship to be of such importance that He created an edict directing children’s conduct toward their parents. He said in Ex 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.”

Honoring our parents does three things:

  1. It creates a generational culture of respect that aids viewing the mistakes parents make in their proper perspective.
  2. It makes us confront the issues that hinder bestowing honor, thereby giving us an opportunity to bring them to God that He might heal us.
  3. It opens the door for us have prolonged and prosperous days in our land of promises.

Don’t wait for Mother’s or Father’s Day to express your gratefulness. Honor your parents today so that this will be the first in a long line of days that you live right and live well…
