Good Deeds

by Brett Fuller on June 19, 2017

While we are on the earth we are to be about doing good to all people (Gal 6:10). We are called to walk in the good works God has prepared beforehand (Eph 2:10). Yet, just doing good is not quite enough.

1Cor 16:14 says, "Let all that you do be done in love." The implication from this passage is that there are good deeds we can perform without love. In fact, if we are not vigilant to tend our hearts, proper religious conduct can replace virtuous behavior. When this occurs, neither the recipient nor the distributor receives the benefit that only love can deliver.

It's said of Jesus that He looked upon the multitudes and felt compassion. He didn't just see the need and dutifully respond. His heart was touched in such away as to allow the virtuous power of love to inspire a mass miracle (Matt 15:32-38).

May the love that God has poured in you, pour through you to empower good works so everyone with whom you come in contact can live right and live well.
