Forgiven And Justified

by Brett Fuller on November 27, 2017

When accused of a crime, formal charges must be directed at the accused in order to receive a conviction. If such charges are not brought to bear then no conviction can be attained. If no conviction can be achieved then, though the accused may have committed the crime, judgment has been eluded. Paul understood this when he said in Rom 8:31-34, “If God is for us, who can be against us? …33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns?”

There is no question that we all have sinned (Rom 6:23). In fact, if our crimes against the kingdom of God were to be listed, there would not be enough trees to produce the paper upon which to write them. Evidence notwithstanding, if one were to bring a spiritual charge against us, to whom should it be presented? God is the only righteous Judge and He has already forgiven and justified us. So, as Paul says, “Who is he that condemns?”

Understanding your acquittal should help you rejoice right and rejoice well…
