Effectively Modifying Behavior

In Revelations 3:15-16 Jesus says to the church at Laodicea, `I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.  16. `So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth." Whew... Doesn't sound like God is very happy with the Laodiceans.           

Reason is, both hot & cold water make you ponder before addressing them. No one jumps into 45° water without mentally overcoming the reality of the bone chilling shock. Nor is it normal for someone to jump into a hot tub without first testing the water. In contrast, lukewarm water requires no change in behavior by the person encountering it.         

The effective Christian should live his life in such a way as to require a change in behavior by those who encounter him. Live right, live well...
