Course Correcting Words

In John 21:5-6 Jesus anonymously appeared on the shores of Galilee the morning after the disciples had been fishing all night without success. He then tells them if they want to make the night worth while they need to throw the net on the other side of the boat. Although reluctant to heed what they believe is a stranger's advice, they listen and obey. To their surprise they bring in the biggest catch of their lives.

Hard work, skill and experience usually produce outstanding results, but not always. Sometimes small course corrective words from an outside source can make all difference. That day, Peter and the boys caught Jesus' advice before they caught fish. In your endeavors, begin to bend your ear to the experienced voices that God has around you and see if their vintage intuition doesn't net you much greater success. Live right, live well…
