Contend for the Faith

Jude in verse 3 of his epistle says, "Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints."

In this epistle, it's almost as if Jude, desperately wanting to pen a theological encouragement about the blessing’s heaven, realized the believers to whom he was writing were in an epic struggle for their faith. Unbelief, cynicism, immorality, greed were all seeking a knock out punch against the saints. Jude responds by saying, fight for your faith.

Our living faith is one of the most precious gifts God has given. We cannot let it be lost, stolen or beaten. So today, in the midst of your adversity, reach back to the Word of God, load up with some promises and deliver a punch so faith-full that the enemy repeats the Spanish phrase of concession coined by welterweight Roberto Duran in 1980- "No, Mas."
