Close, Conscious & Conscientious

The night Jesus was born in Bethlehem, there were shepherds on the outskirts of the city who were watching over their flocks at night. Luke 2:8-17 says angels appeared that night and made known to them the location of Christ' birth.

I imagine there were many other more prominent people to whom God could have sent the angels, but He didn't. What made these shepherds so privileged? Well here are 3 "C's" to help you remember. They were...

  1. Close- they were watching their sheep in the neighborhood.
  2. Conscious- they were some of the few who were awake in the middle of the night.
  3. Conscientious- they were protecting their flock from predators.

Since God is no respecter of persons, their qualifications can be yours. Do you find yourself hanging around godly people on a regular basis? With respect to the will of God, are you "conscious"? Lastly, are you actively caring for those in your sphere? If so, then this holiday, you are officially invited to view the newborn King in a fresh way. Merry Christmas. Live right, live well...
