Bitter Waters Made Sweet

by Brett Fuller on May 10, 2021

Exodus 15:23-25 states that as the Israelites wandered through the wilderness, they came to a pool that, to their surprise, was filled with bitter water. Angry with Moses for leading them to an undrinkable fountain, the people complained.

Moses cried out and God showed him a tree- an unusual remedy. In any case, Moses uses an even more unusual strategy by throwing the tree in the pool. As a result, the bitter waters became sweet.

Our world is full of bitter pools. Past incidents of disrespect, mean spirited people, molestation & betrayal- just to name a few. Our mental tendency is to drink deeply from those past experiences even though the water will harm us.

Why not take another approach. When God shows you the tree of the cross do more than just look at it- use it by throwing it in all your toxic pools. If you do, God will make your bitter moments become a source of redemptive sweetness for you, and all those who drink from your life. Live right, live well...
