Aligning with the Will of God

by Brett Fuller on July 12, 2021

In Mark 10:33-35, Jesus bore His soul to the disciples when telling them what He was going to suffer: describing in detail the pain and horror.  Although He was not seeking sympathy, a sensitive thought would have been appropriate. A, "How can I pray?", might have been nice. Or how about, "What can I do to help?" However, verse 35 says that immediately after Jesus expressed His thoughts, "James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, came up to Jesus, saying, 'Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.'" Their request: to be placed prominently in His administration when He came to power. Not much empathy or emotional intelligence displayed here....

When God discloses things to us, it is so that we might become more engaged with Him and His will- not so He might become more engaged with us and ours.

This week don't let self-absorbing myopia rob you of your intimate connection with the Lord. Refine your hearing, so you can live right and live well...
