Accomplishing the Father's Will

by Brett Fuller on May 13, 2019

Preachers often hear people say, "I can't wait for church because I need a good spiritual meal from God's word." While it is true that Hebrews 5:12 likens the hearing of the Word to being fed, listening is not the only way we are to be nourished.

In John 4, the disciples mistakenly believe Jesus to be hungry. When they urge Him to eat, Jesus informs them in verses 32 & 34, saying, He "...has food they know nothing about" & that His, "...food is to do the will of Him who sent Him and to accomplish His work."

The work of serving the Father and accomplishing His will in the earth is hugely satisfying to the soul. Conversely, disobedience and self-service perpetuate the hollowness with which we were all born and not even the best sermon can fill that cavernous expanse.

So, when you begin hearing your soul "growling" from the hunger that a sermon won't fix, get busy and do something great for God. Live right, live well...
