Eyes on You: 3 Days of Prayer & Fasting
September 3–5, 2025
This week we humble ourselves before God, praying and fasting not merely because we are willing to go without food and other desires, but because we are unwilling to go without God.
In turbulent times, people, cities and nations often become anxious and afraid, unsure of what to do. Even so, there have always been people of faith who despite great challenges, put their trust in God.
In great distress, King Jehoshaphat prayed “Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” 2 Chron 20:12 NIV. Afterwards, great things happened!
No matter the challenges we face - individually and corporately - like Jehoshaphat and all those who came before us, our eyes are on God!

Why We Fast & Pray
Why We Fast:
Fasting is an ancient spiritual practice of intentionally setting aside food—or other comforts—for a time. It is not a way to earn God’s favor, but a discipline that trains our hearts to depend on Him. Fasting helps break the hold of the flesh—our desires, sins, and distractions—and opens space to feed on the Spirit.
“Fasting is a way to humble ourselves before God, to seek Him more earnestly, and to delight in Him above all else.” – John Piper
Through fasting, we reorient our hearts toward God’s kingdom above our own comfort and deepen our hunger for His presence. Not getting from God but getting to God.
Why We Pray:
Prayer is the heartbeat of intimacy with God. It is how we enter His presence, align our hearts with His will, and release heaven’s power into our everyday lives. Prayer is both speaking and listening—it shapes our vision, our courage, and our peace, giving life to the unseen and strength for every moment.
What is Biblical Fasting?
Biblical fasting is a spiritual discipline designed to draw us closer to God. It is an intentional act of humbling ourselves, setting aside physical needs to focus on the spiritual, and seeking God’s heart above all else (Matthew 6:16–18, Ezra 8:21).
Types of Fasting
-
Complete Fast: Abstaining from all food (water only) for a set period.
-
Partial Fast: Limiting meals, following the Daniel Fast, or abstaining from certain foods.
-
Soul Fast: Denying media, social media, or other distractions to focus on God.
We encourage you to prayerfully consider which form of fasting God is leading you toward.
