The Fruit of Obedience

by Brett Fuller on September 07, 2020

Sometimes God sends us places and requires us to do things which demand that we blindly obey. In John chapter 9 Jesus encounters a man blind from birth. In order to perform the miracle He first spits in the dirt, makes mud, places the mud on the man's eyes & tells him he must go and wash in the pool of Siloam before he could have his vision granted. The problem was that he had to go to the place of his sending (Siloam means "sent") not being able to see where he was going.

Because he blindly obeyed though, he received the miracle he desperately needed. He not only came back seeing but he came back "seeing" why it was important to go.

When God tells us to do something, He rarely gives us all the reasons why we should do it. However, if we obey even when we don't understand the whys, then we will return not only with the fruit of our obedience, but also seeing why it was important to obey. Live right, live well...
