We live in a sin-sick world. Often, more bad things happen to folks than goo. God’s mercy is never more evident than when we experience His sustaining power through those tough times.
Job is the guy who is famous for enduring unthinkable tragedy. International business stolen. Domestic businesses destroyed and kids killed in a tornado. To boot, all this happened on the same day.
Most of us would have lost our minds, but Job 1:20 says, “Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped.” Okay, the ripping off clothes in despair thing I get. The pulling out hair, excuse me, shaving the head thing I get too. Even the falling out thing I get, but the “worship thing”…AMAZING!
Job was a man! In his deepest despair, he led his soul into the presence of God and praised Him for who He was. While there are a number of circumstances which might inspire worship, none of the above are on most people’s top ten.. May we be astute enough to add “despair” to the list of reasons we need to worship. Live right, live well…
