What We Believe

Grace Covenant Church is a Christ-centered community actively engaging the world we live in with life and truth. We are:

  • Orthodox in our beliefs
  • Spirit-filled in our expression
  • Missional in our purpose

Orthodox

GCC stands in the historical tradition of Christ’s Church through the ages holding to the truth of God’s nature, design, and redemptive purpose revealed in the Bible. Such truth is reflected in the following:

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe there is one eternal, almighty, and perfect God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe in the resurrection of the saved.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Spirit-filled

Holding to the truth of God’s revealed Word, we understand by both faith and experience that God’s Spirit is active and present in the world today. The Spirit’s power and the dynamic operation of His life is evidenced in our lives by the fruit of righteousness, the operation of His gifts, and the fruitful increase that comes from being joined to Christ.

  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

Missional

Since we are “ambassadors of reconciliation,” we work to carry out Christ’s mandate, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15, ESV). We understand our mission as honoring God and advancing His Kingdom through church planting, campus ministry, and world missions. To do so, we have identified five core values as being central to shaping our life together and guiding our efforts to engage the world around us:

  • Lordship (Colossians 2:6)
  • Evangelism (John 3:16)
  • Discipleship (Matthew 28:19-20)
  • Leadership Development (II Timothy 2:2)
  • Spiritual Family (Psalm 127:1-3)

Grace Covenant Church summarizes our purpose and our practice as simply, “Encountering Christ, Experiencing Community, and Extending the Kingdom.”
