I'm glad you found your way to the Outreach page of Grace Covenant Church’s website! It says that you're interested in knowing how we are engaging and serving our local community and the world.
We hope that this information will inspire you to respond with us to needs of those down the street and around the world.
In the New Testament, we find 17 statements that express how our Heavenly Father has treated us, and how we are in turn to practically treat and respond to “ONE ANOTHER”. We find statements like, “love one another” John 13:34, “be devoted to one another” Romans 12:10, “serve one another” Galatians 5:13, “be kind and compassionate to one another” Ephesians 4:32, “offer hospitality to one another” 1 Peter 4:9. Our service is designed to employ these dynamic statements to everything we do.
The desire of ONE ANOTHER, is to equip people with opportunities to respond to God's call upon their lives to bring the Gospel to all shades of our culture and our world.
LOCAL OUTREACH Opportunities:
William Waters Elderly Home – Sterling, Va
A monthly lunch and mini-service with 35 residents at William Waters home ranging from 75-90 years of age.
Yorkshire Elementary School – Manassas, Va
In November of 2010, we received information that Yorkshire Elementary, a Title 1 school six miles from our church, had 300 kids without coats, hats and gloves. Immediately, GCC covered the cost of these needs and so, began a partnership with Yorkshire. We are working towards serving the following pressing needs this amazing school faces each month:
• Tutoring
• Canned food items for families in need
• “Angel Tree” Christmas family adoption
• Coat and Hat drive
North Spring Behavioral Center – Leesburg, Va
In November, 2010, we were invited to begin doing Bible Studies at North Spring Behavioral Center, a residential hospital for teens. Over the last six months we’ve served 25-30 teens each week as we’ve gone through the books of Mark and Phillippians with teens who have little context of Jesus.
FCA – We’ve partnered with FCA, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes to have access to public school athletic teams all over Fairfax and Loudoun counties. We are serving 3-4 schools each year with chapels before games, coaches Bible Studies, Camps and more.
SEASONAL OUTREACH Opportunities:
Easter Egg Outreach – Family hosted Easter Egg Hunts in your community
Popsicle Clubs – Summer outreach to your neighbors kids. Eat popsicles and read a book to them with a few discussion questions at the end.
“Got Dresses?” – Prom dress drive for local schools and their teens that can’t afford dresses.
Homeless Service – Quarterly outreach to DC Homeless
